Prepositions

NOTE: These prepositions can mean many more things than are indicated in this vocabulary list; these are simply the core definitions of the prepositions. Memorizing these definitions is highly recommended, but be attuned to the other ways in which these prepositions can be used and translated as we progress throughout the semester.

  • ἀγαθός, ἀγαθή, ἀγαθόν - noble, good
  • ἄλλος, ἄλλη, ἄλλο - another, other; (ἄλλος … ἄλλος) one … the other
  • δίκαιος, δικαία, δίκαιον - just
  • ἐχθρός, ἐχθρά, ἐχθρόν - hated, hostile
  • ἱερός, ἱερά, ἱερόν - holy
  • κάκος, κάκη, κάκον - bad
  • καλός, καλή, καλόν - good, beautiful, handsome
  • μακρός, μακρά, μακρόν - long
  • μίκρος, μίκρα, μίκρον - small
  • πρότερος, πρότερα, πρότερον - previous, former, earlier
